| How it Works |
| |
| |
| Volunteer Response |
| Each of your department's stations will be assigned a toll-free number. Volunteer firefighters will program each number into their phone's speed dial. |
| |
Using your departments existing dispatch system, volunteers are notified of an incident. If the volunteer is able to respond, he or she will immediately press one button on his or her pre-programmed phone. The call lasts about 5 seconds and automatically disconnects, leaving the volunteer free to focus on safely traveling to the station or incident.
| At The Station |
| In your station’s bay, a display monitor will show each responding volunteer’s response data immediately after the volunteer has registered a response. |
| |
| Commanders, career personnel, and first arriving volunteers will preview the response data to determine when to go en route with emergency apparatus. In addition, they can determine if sufficient resources are responding and whether additional manpower should be requested. |
| Your department can also utilize the optional “check-in” feature so you know how many volunteers have arrived at the station versus how many are still responding. |
| |
| In the Field |
| Mobile data terminals (MDTs) with broadband cards can be used in emergency or command apparatus to provide |
resource managers in the field with real-time volunteer data. This allows for additional manpower to be requested as needed. |
| |
| |
| Mutual Aid Responses |
| |
| View neighboring departments' data during mutual aid calls by simply clicking a link from your Firefighter Response System application. To maintain data integrity and security, mutual aid information is "read only" and cannot be edited by neighboring departments. |
| |
| At Dispatch Center |
| |
| For departments without Internet access, the Firefighter Response System can be viewed at your dispatch center. When you need to know the status of your volunteer resources, simply |
request the information from dispatch using existing radio communication methods at the station or in the field. |
